William Arthur was Chester Arthur’s father. He was born in Ireland and immigrated as a young man to Canada. He married Malvina Stone in 1821, and they had eight children, with their fifth child being Chester. William Arthur became a Baptist preacher in 1821, and in the following years pastored eleven churches in Vermont and New York.

2 de feb. de 2021 · Hoover-Minthorn House Museum. The Hoover-Minthorn House Museum in Newberg, Oregon was Herbert Hoover's home from 1885 to 1889. It is preserved as a memorial to him and to the lifestyle of the Quaker community in which he was raised as a boy. The house is owned and operated by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America.

Herbert’s father Jesse and his grandfather Eli Hoover built the cottage in 1871. Jesse and Hulda Hoover had three children. Theodore was born in 1871, Herbert in 1874, and Mary in 1876.
