He was a member of the House of Hohenzollern and had significant territories and influence. He was instrumental in the Protestant Reformation and obtained the Duchy of Racibórz, Jägerndorf, and Oppeln. George had three wives and six children, including George Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach.
