The Earl of Bothwell married secondly: in 1491 Margaret Gordon, daughter of George Earl of Huntly. They had: (1) Adam Hepburn (1)Adam Hepburn (see below). (2) Patrick Hepburne, frequently styled ‘of Bolton’, after his estate and pele tower residence there, who was born circa 1494.
ADAM HEPBURN, second Earl of Bothwell, succeeded his father in his office of High Admiral, as well as in his titles and extensive estates, but did not long enjoy them. He commanded the reserve, consisting of the men of Lothian, at the fatal battle of Flodden, where he fell along with many of his kinsmen, and the chivalry of the Borders.
