On May 11, 1628, Dorothea was appointed adjutant of Quedlinburg Monastery by her sister Dorothea Sophie, whose aunt Maria had been abbot of the monastery since before 1610. In 1633, Dorothea left the convent and she married Albert IV, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach (1599-1644) in Weimar on June 24.

Dorothea Marie of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg was Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen as the first wife of Ernst Ludwig I, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen. She was the daughter of Frederick I, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and his first wife, Magdalena Sybille of Saxe-Weissenfels. She married Ernst Ludwig I on the 19 September 1704.
Princess Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (Louise Dorothea Pauline Charlotte Fredericka Auguste; 21 December 1800 – 30 August 1831) was the wife of Ernst I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the mother of Duke Ernst II and Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. She is also the paternal great-great-great grandmother of Elizabeth II.
