1 de jun. de 2023 · A team of Irish officials have traveled to Belgium to access the burial site of exiled 17th Century war hero Patrick Sarsfield, as part of an effort to bring his remains home. The project is being led by Dr Loïc Guyon, France's Honorary Consul to Ireland's midwest and a Limerick-based French Studies professor.

The search for the remains of Patrick Sarsfield, the Earl of Lucan, has moved a step forward with the announcement that Sarsfield's burial site has been identified and that an archaeological excavation of the site will be commencing soon.

Sarsfield, Patrick. Sarsfield, Patrick (d. 1693), soldier, lst earl of Lucan , was the second son, and youngest of five children, of Patrick Sarsfield and his wife Anne, daughter of Rory O'More (qv), a leader of the 1641 rebellion. The Sarsfields were an Old English family who had estates at Lucan, Co. Dublin, and Tully, Co. Kildare.
