Owen Tudor became an early casualty of the Wars of the Roses (1455–1487) between the House of Lancaster and the House of York. On 2 February 1461, as a man of advanced years, Owen led the Lancastrian forces at the Battle of Mortimer's Cross against Edward, Earl of March. They were defeated.
Catherine de Valois LG (* 27. Oktober 1401 in Paris; † 3. Evidence suggests that the two were secretly married in 1429. The two sons born of the marriage, Edmund and Jasper, were among the most loyal supporters of the House of Lancaster in its struggle against the House of York.

Owen Tudor was a gentleman of Catherine's household when he attracted her attention and made a secret marriage. After Catherine's death in 1437 he was shown some favour by Henry VI, and fought for the Lancastrians at Mortimer's Cross; captured in the battle, he was executed in Hereford market-place. 13 de may. de 2024 · Owen Tudor was imprisoned in 1436 and Catherine retired to Bermondsey Abbey, London. By Owen Tudor she had three sons and two daughters, one of whom died in infancy; the eldest son, Edmund, created earl of Richmond in 1452, was the father of Henry VII .
