  5. Harrison College. Harrison College is a free public secondary school owned and managed by the Government of Barbados. It has a roll of over 1000 students ranging from form one to Upper Sixth. Most students continue their studies at Sixth Form level. There is a strong emphasis on both academics and athletics.

Founded in 1733, the College takes its name from a Bridgetown merchant, who intended it to serve as "A public and free School for poor and indigent boys of the parish". It remained an all-boys school until September 1980 when co-education was introduced.
