A SupportiveCommunity. Riverdale is sometimes described as high-challenge, high-support. A balanced diet improves cognition; nutritious (and delicious) food is served on both campuses. Sleep is important; the faculty manages homework so that students can participate in an array of activities without undue stress.
Riverdale students try new activities that are challenging, meaningful, and fun. They join classmates on outdoor adventures and global studies trips. Students get involved in the arts, clubs, and athletics. They lead service-learning projects, engage in scientific research, teach mini-courses, and undertake independent projects.
The Student Life program builds on the Middle School’s work and is aligned with the Pillars of Student Life. Programming is grounded in understanding core values, healthy communication and healthy relationships. Students deepen their exploration of essential concepts related to identity and belonging, social health, sexual health, and prevention.
Students are required to take three years of science courses. The two-year sequence of Integrated Biology/Chemistry is one of the requirements for all 9th and 10th graders. Riverdale Country School is a co-educational, independent, college-preparatory day school in New York City serving pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is located on two campuses covering more than 27 acres in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York, United States.
