30 de abr. de 2012 · Queen's Day, or Koninginnedag in Dutch, is a national holiday in the Netherlands, Curacao, Sint Maarten and Aruba. Before Queen's Day the Dutch celebrated 'Princess Day' on August 31st. The first celebration was in 1885, on the fifth anniversary of the then young Princess Wilhelmina, heiress to the Dutch throne.
Koninginnedag or Queen’s Day was a national celebration in the Netherlands in honour of the Queen’s birthday, which fell on 30 April. Since 2013 , when Queen Beatrix’s son came to the throne, Queen’s Day has no longer been celebrated, instead, sovereign Wilhelm Alexander of the Netherlands, the first male sovereign since 1890, is celebrated with Koningsdag, the King’s Day .
From Koninginnedag to Koningsdag. 2021 will be King Willem-Alexander’s eighth successive year on the throne since his mother Beatrix’s abdication in 2013. Koningsdag was previously Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) in honor of the successive female monarchs since the national holiday began in the late 1880s.
