Clapton eventually married Pattie Boyd in 1979. He didn’t kick booze until 1981, after being hospitalised in the US with bleeding ulcers, forcing him to cancel an entire tour.

In the year after the Rainbow Concert, Clapton recovered from his heroin addiction and recorded "461 Ocean Boulevard". This concert is the first live performance where Clapton used his famous Stratocaster guitar "Blackie".
