Ich hebe diesen Track aus einem anderen Grund hervor, obwohl noch Billy Strayhorn's Passion Flower mit seinem stärkeren R'n'B-Bezug, scharfkantig konturierenden Trompetensätzen und starkem Gale-Einsatz dazwischen liegt.

  3. 22 de jul. de 2021 · All four songs are quite enjoyable but it is ‘Mister Magic’ that really caught on as a major hit. Bob James provided the colorful if somewhat commercial arrangements, there are spots for guitarist Eric Gale, and Washington (mostly on tenor and soprano) is heard in particularly creative form. Highly recommended.

Grover's tenure at Motown was short-lived, yielding just one original album (1978's Reed Seed ) and one collection of outtakes (1980's Skylarkin', released after his departure from the label).
