  2. 25 de jun. de 2017 · James Morton Peto Campbell inherited, but died in 1926 after a prolonged illness at Careston Castle, Brechin, the home of his sister and brother-in-law, William Shaw Adamson. Stracathro House passed to the Shaw Adamsons. William’s son, William Campbell Adamson, was in the Royal Flying Corps and was killed in action in France in 1915.

  3. Sir James Campbell of Stracathro (1790-1876) was a founder of J & W Campbell, warehousemen, and Lord Provost, 1840-1843. Campbell came to Glasgow with his brothers John and William from Lennox. James and William opened their drapery store in Saltmarket, moving to Candleriggs and then to larger premises in Ingram Street.

In memory of ANN PETO, beloved wife of JAMES ALEXANDER CAMPBELL of Stracathro , who died on 15th September, 1887, aged 54 years; and of the said Right Honourable JAMES ALEXANDER CAMPBELL who died on 9th May, 1908, aged 83 years.
