Czesław Miłosz zadebiutował w 1933 roku zbiorem Poemat o czasie zastygłym. Otrzymał za nią nagrodę Filomatów. Trzy lata później ukazał się tomik Trzy zimy, który zebrał pozytywne recenzje. Czesław Miłosz [ ˈʧ̑ɛswaf ˈmʲiwɔʃ] (* 30. jún 1911, Šeteniai, Cárske Rusko, teraz Litva – † 14. august 2004, Krakov, Poľsko) bol poľský básnik, spisovateľ, akademik a prekladateľ. V roku 1961 sa stal profesorom poľskej literatúry na Kalifornskej univerzite v Berkeley a v roku 1980 získal Nobelovu cenu za literatúru.
