20 de ene. de 2017 · Jimmy Cobb, the incomparable hard-bop drummer, died on Sunday at 91. In his honor, here is the first installment of Take Five, compiled in celebration of his 88th birthday in 2017. Jimmy Cobb will probably always be hailed first in the popular conversation as the drummer on the Miles Davis album Kind of Blue .
Drummer. Years active. 1949–2020. Wilbur James "Jimmy" Cobb (January 20, 1929 – May 24, 2020) was an American jazz drummer. [1] He was part of Miles Davis 's First Great Sextet. At the time of his death, he had been the Sextet's last surviving member for nearly thirty years. He was awarded an NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship in 2009.
