Stanley Kubrick ( New York, 26 juli 1928 – Harpenden, 7 maart 1999) was een Amerikaans filmregisseur. Hij staat bekend als een van de meest vernieuwende en invloedrijke filmregisseurs aller tijden. Kubrick begon als fotograaf en ontwikkelde zich langzaam tot onafhankelijke regisseur van documentaires en films.
