  5. Just finished Infinity Concerto last night. I really enjoyed it, although I'm sure I could pick out aspects that suggested a less experienced author. The Realm reminded me a bit of The Land from Stephen R. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant -- I have read all of Bear's early works and generally have liked the various fantastic/alien landscapes he imagines (Hegira, Strength of Stones, The Way).
