7 de jul. de 2017 · Laser in Dermatology: the past. In 1963, Leon Goldman, also known as the “father of lasers in medicine”, was the first to use the laser in dermatology, thus anticipating an era of unimaginable technological development and innovative therapeutic potential.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1905, Dr Goldman went on to complete his medical education and residency at the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1929. He then taught and practiced at the Department of Dermatology, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and was appointed Director of Dermatology there in 1945 remaining there till 1980 ...
Dr. Leon Goldman, a 1930 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, pioneered the use of laser medical treatment in the 1960s and performed the first laser surgery in 1966 on a melanoma patient. He went on to found the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and become the director of the Jewish Hospital Laser Center.
