Gig Young est marié avec Sheila Stapler de 1940 à 1947, avec Sophie Rosenstein de 1950 à 1952, avec Elizabeth Montgomery de 1956 à 1963, avec Elaine Williams de 1963 à 1966 et avec Kim Schmidt en 1978. Le 19 octobre 1978, Gig Young a tué sa cinquième épouse, Kim Schmidt, de cinq balles, puis, il s'est suicidé.

Gig Young was an American film, stage, and television actor. Born Byron Elsworth Barr in St. Cloud, Minnesota, his parents John and Emma Barr raised him and his older siblings in Washington D.C. He developed a passion for the theatre while appearing in high school plays, and after some amateur experience he applied for and received a scholarship to the acclaimed Pasadena Community Playhouse.
A diary in the blood-soaked bedroom where the couple died was open to Sept. 27, and "We Got Married Today" was written on the page. Young was married five times. Young started out in Hollywood with high hopes. He earned rave reviews in "The Gay Sisters" (1942), his first major film role and adopted his character's name, Gig Young as his stage name.
