Steve Pemberton was born as Stephen Klakowicz in New Bedford, Massachusetts. His mother, Marion Murphy Klakowicz, was an American of Polish descent. She struggled with alcoholism and died at the age of forty. His father, Kenny Pemberton, was an African-American boxing champion who was murdered at the age of twenty-six.
Helped people “get their chance” who had otherwise been marginalized by society. Inspired culture to want to help others be given more of a chance in life. Pemberton served as Chief Diversity Officer for this jobsite giant which, during his tenure, grew to over one million resumes onsite and over 63 million job applicants at any one time.
Steve Pemberton knows that life is full of adversity and obstacles. His personal story starts with generational dysfunction and continues with abandonment, neglect, and abuse. Steve believes his life was saved by the people who became his lighthouses: ordinary people who had extraordinary impact.
