Omar Lye-Fook, nait à Londres le 14 octobre 1968 [1]. Enfant, il apprend à jouer de la trompette , du piano et de la batterie , ce qui lui permet d'entrer dans l'orchestre de jeunesse du comté, en tant que percussionniste principal, puis à l'école de musique de Manchester , dans laquelle il restera deux ans.

Omar comes from a musical family. Byron Lyefook (Omar's Father) worked as a studio musician and drummer with Bob Marley, Horace Andy and The Rolling Stones.He founded Kongo Records, which Omar initially released his first two single releases, "Mr Postman" (1985) and "You and Me" (1988) featuring backup vocals from Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul).
