Biography: Archibald Primrose was British Liberal Party Prime Minister for just 15 months (1894-95), only rising to the post after the resignation of William Gladstone, with whom he'd been politically aligned with since 1879 when he managed Gladstone's first campaign for office.

Archibald Philip Primrose, 5. Earl of Rosebery KG PC (* 7. Mai 1847 in London; † 21. Mai 1929 in Epsom, Surrey) war ein britischer Staatsmann und von 1894 bis 1895 Premierminister des Vereinigten Königreichs.
Lord Rosebery married firstly Harriett Bouverie, daughter of Hon. Bartholomew Bouverie MP in 1808. They had four children: Archibald John Primrose, Lord Dalmeny (1809–1851) Lady Harriet Primrose (b. 1810) Lady Mary Anne Primrose (1812–1826) Hon. Bouverie Francis Primrose CB FRSE (1813–1898) Lord and Lady Rosebery were divorced in 1815.
Archibald was born 1847, the eldest son of Archibald, Lord Dalmeny, Member of Parliment, by Lady Catherine Lucy Wilhelmine Stanhope, daughter of the 4th Earl Stanhope. He was a Privy Counsellor, and was crowned Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1892, and the Order of the Thistle in 1895.
