4 de abr. de 2023 · From Wikipedia: Lord Ochiltree (or Ochiltrie) of Lord Stuart of Ochiltree was a title in the Peerage of Scotland. In 1542 Andrew Stewart, 2nd Lord Avondale (see the Earl Castle Stewart for earlier history of the family) exchanged the lordship of Avondale with Sir James Hamilton for the lordship of Ochiltrie and by Act of Parliament was ordained to be styled Lord Stuart of Ochiltrie.
Swedish connection. Andrew 2nd Lord Ochiltree seems to have had a son with Janet Forbes, John Stewart or Stuart. He entered the service of Sweden and was master of horse to Eric XIV, [16] and had two sons Andrew and John. This branch of the Ochiltree family is introduced at the Swedish House of Lords ( Riddarhuset) under the name Stuart.

1st Lord Avondale. Father, died: 1548. ANDREW STEWART appears to have succeeded his elder brother in the Barony of Avondale in 1489, but in any case he was created LORD AVONDALE (S.) in that year. He fell at Flodden 1513, leaving three sons :-. (a) ANDREW, 1st Lord Ochiltree .
Andrew was Lord of the Bedchamber to King James IV. He inherited the title of Lord Avondale from his grand-uncle, Andrew, the first Lord Avondale, who died in 1488 without issue. Note that Burke's 1 gets mixed up about the lords Avondale, citing this Andrew as the 3rd Lord, when in fact he was the second, inheriting the title from his uncle.
