La marcia Yorckscher Marsch fu scritta da Ludwig van Beethoven in suo onore.
Hans David Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg (1759-1830) war ein preußischer Generalfeldmarschall. Durch die Unterzeichnung der Konvention von Tauroggen am 30.12.1812 leitete er den preußischen Befreiungskrieg des Jahres 1813 ein und wurde durch seinen Sieg bei Wartenburg in den Grafenstand erhoben.
