After rising to prominence in the radical Jacobin Club, he dominated the French Republic during the Reign of Terror, overseeing the executions of counter-revolutionary suspects. He was overthrown and executed himself on 28 July 1794.
Maximilien-Francois-Marie-Isidore de Robespierre, que llegó a ser conocido entre sus comteporáneos como el Incorruptible, nació en Arras el 6 de mayo de 1758 siendo hijo de un abogado que a la muerte de su esposa abandonó el hogar. Maximilien de Robespierre, ou Maximilien Robespierre [1], est un avocat et homme politique français né le 6 mai 1758 à Arras (Artois, aujourd'hui Pas-de-Calais) et mort guillotiné le 10 thermidor an II (28 juillet 1794) à Paris, place de la Révolution (actuelle place de la Concorde).
Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (franska: [mak.si.mi.ljɛ̃ fʁɑ̃.swa ma.ʁi i.zi.dɔʁ də ʁɔ.bɛs.pjɛʁ]), född 6 maj 1758 i Arras i Pas-de-Calais, död 28 juli 1794 i Paris , var en fransk revolutionär.
Szülei François Maximilien Barthélémy de Robespierre ügyvéd és Jacqueline Marguerite Carrault, egy sörfőző lánya voltak. Anyja szülésben meghalt, apja pedig hatévesen elhagyta őt és testvéreit.
