Emma von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym was born 20 May 1802 in Schloss Schaumburg, Germany to Viktor II. Karl Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (1767-1812) and Amalie von Nassau-Weilburg (1776-1841) and died 1 August 1858 Bad Pyrmont, Germany of unspecified causes. She married Georg II. von Waldeck-Pyrmont (1789-1845) 26 June 1823 in Schaumburg Castle, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (originally Anhalt-Zeitz-Hoym) was a German principality and member of the Holy Roman Empire. The death of Prince Victor Amadeus of Anhalt-Bernburg in 1718 resulted in the partition of his land, with his second son Prince Lebrecht inheriting what was originally known as Anhalt-Zeitz-Hoym .

Princess Adelheid was born on 23 February 1800 at Schaumburg Castle. She was the second daughter of Victor II, Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym, and Princess Amelia of Nassau-Weilburg. Adelheid had three sisters: Hermine, Emma and Ida. She grew up with her sisters in Hoym in Anhalt .
