Alexander Stewart, Duke of Ross (30 April 1514, Stirling Castle–18 December 1515, Stirling Castle) was the fourth and last son of King James IV of Scotland and his queen Margaret Tudor. [1] [2] He was born posthumously, after his father was killed at the Battle of Flodden, during the reign of his infant brother King James V of Scotland.
14 de mar. de 2024 · In April 1514 while at Stirling, Margaret gave birth to another son, Alexander, Duke of Ross. James IV had made it clear that should he die, Margaret was to act as regent for her son. For the king’s council though, she was by no means a popular choice.
