He is seated in three quarters left profile and wears the uniform of a Commander-in-Chief of the Navy with epaulettes at the shoulders and the Order of the Black Eagle of Prussia on his left breast. In his left hand he holds a broad sword. Prince Adalbert died in Karlsbad, Prussia in 1873.

His elder brothers were Wilhelm, the heir to the German Empire, Eitel, Adalbert, August Wilhelm and Oskar. Their sister Viktoria Luise was born in 1892.
