In 1948 in Lausanne, Vladimir married Georgian Princess Leonida Georgievna Bagration of Mukhrani. In 1969, Vladimir declared their only child, 16-year-old Maria, heir to the throne.
One of his daughters, the second one, Leonida, married Vladimir Cyrillovich Romanov, Pretender to the Russian throne; the other, Maria, homesick, returned to Soviet Georgia, but was arrested in 1948 and had to spend eight years in exile in Magadan. She died in Tbilisi in 1992. George Bagration of Mukhrani died in Madrid, Spain, in 1957
A member of this branch, Princess Leonida Georgievna Bagration-Moukhransky, married Vladimir Cyrillovich, Grand Duke of Russia, and became the mother of one of the claimants to the Romanov legacy, Maria Vladimirovna, Grand Duchess of Russia.
