His observations, the most accurate possible before the invention of the telescope, included a study of the solar system and accurate positions of more than 777 fixed stars.

He discovered a supernova, observed the elliptical interplanetary orbit of a comet, updated the accuracy of the calendar, and proposed a whole new theory of the positions of the heavenly bodies in the night sky.
