May 11, 1945 (Friday) USS Bunker Hill hit by two kamikazes. While supporting the Battle of Okinawa, the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) was badly damaged by Japanese kamikaze attacks and suffered about 600 casualties.
