Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll (born Feb. 26, 1629, Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scot.—died June 30, 1685, Edinburgh) was a Scottish Protestant leader who was executed for his opposition to the Roman Catholic James II of Great Britain and Ireland (James VII of Scotland).
