Early Life of Isaac Newton. The person who discovered what makes a rainbow was born into a rather dull world. Isaac Newton’s story begins on a sheep farm surrounded by apple orchards in rural England on Christmas day in 1642. Born prematurely to a poor family, no one expected the sickly infant to survive, but he did!
Vocabulary. Sir Isaac Newton was a tiny man in real life. But he was a giant in the world of science. Newton created the theory of gravity around 1665 or 1666. He came up with the idea that every physical object, whether it's a person, an apple or a planet, exerts a force on other physical objects. A force is a push or pull in a certain direction.
Sir Isaac Newton was born prematurely. He was tiny and very weak. He was not expected to live, but he did. Sir Isaac Newton loved school, math and science as a child. When he was 12, his mother returned for him after her second husband died. She pulled him out of school to make him a farmer. He did not like farming.
His dog Diamond, by mistake, had ruined 20 years of his research by igniting the laboratory. Newton’s interest in alchemy (forming gold and silver) and experimenting with mercury; ultimately led to his death being a result of mercury poisoning.
