14 de oct. de 2018 · Dr. John Irving Bentley – who was known as J. Irving – lived a normal life and had it not been for his manner of death he would have probably been forgotten by all but his own descendants. He was a family doctor who served the region from 1925 to 1953.
13 de nov. de 2023 · Dr. John Irving Bentley's body was discovered in December 1966 in Pennsylvania, next to the electricity meter of his home. Only his leg and foot, still wearing a slipper, were found. The rest of his body had been burned to ashes, and the only evidence of the fire was a hole in the bathroom floor. The rest of the house remained intact.
1 de abr. de 1990 · On Dec. 5, 1966, a meter reader in Coudersport, Pa., discovered what remained of Dr. John Irving Bentley, 92. Only his right foot and part of the leg remained beside the doctor's walker, which was tilted over a blackened hole in the bathroom floor.
18 de ago. de 2012 · Dr. John Irving Bentley was destroyed in a conflagration in the. bathroom of his Pennsylvania home on Dec. 5, 1966. The. floorboards beneath his body had burned through in the fierce.
There were red embers around it. He went upstairs to the bathroom and discovered what was left of the remains of Irving: his metal walker, part of his head, and part of his leg in a boot. Everything else had turned to ash. Irving had apparently died of a fire hot enough to burn through the floor but not potent enough to claim the whole house.

Dr. Bentley. In 1966 Dr. John Irving Bentley a well respected and loved physician, was consumed by fire in the bathroom of his home. The only damage to the house was a 30" by 48" hole in the bathroom floor over the basement. This case got national attention and was on several TV shows and books about Spontaneous Human Combustion.
