The British cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale (1718–1779) was born in the small town of Otley, just outside Leeds. His father, John Chippendale (1690–1768), was a joiner by profession and more than likely taught Thomas the fundamentals of the woodworking trade.

Thomas Chippendale (Farnley (West Yorkshire), 5 juni 1718 – Otley (bij Leeds), 13 november 1779) was een Londense meubelmaker.
