He was the voice of Wallace in the Academy Award-winning Wallace and Gromit films and played Norman "Cleggy" Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine from its 1973 inception until the final episode in 2010, making him the only actor to appear in all 295 episodes.

Wanting to act from an early age she read drama at the University of the West of England at Bristol before taking a gap year to teach English in Thailand. On return she enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from where she graduated in 2008 .

He had graduated in 1909, but began his studies in the Trustees Academy.
