Henry II (5 March 1133 – 6 July 1189), also known as Henry Fitzempress and Henry Curtmantle, [why?] was King of England from 1154 until his death in 1189.
Henry II, king of England (1154–89) who greatly expanded his Anglo-French domains and strengthened the royal administration in England. His quarrels with Thomas Becket, archbishop of Canterbury, and with members of his own family ultimately brought about his defeat.
