Fue príncipe búlgaro desde el 25 de junio de 1887 hasta el 22 de septiembre de 1908 y zar de Bulgaria desde el 22 de septiembre de 1908 hasta el 3 de octubre de 1981. El retorno de sus restos mortales sucede 76 años después de la muerte del monarca.

    Hace 18 horas · After abdicating in favour of his son Boris III in October 1918, Ferdinand lived in exile in Germany and died in the Bavarian city of Coburg on September 10, 1948, aged 87. He was laid in a temporary sarcophagus in front of his parents’ tomb in the crypt of Coburg’s St Augustine Church. His last wish was to be buried in Bulgaria.
