5 de jun. de 2024 · When Elisabeth Ravenscroft Egerton was born on 1 January 1545, in Bretton, Flintshire, Wales, her father, Thomas Ravenscroft, was 23 and her mother, Lady Catherine Grosvenor, was 21. She married Sir Thomas Egerton on 25 June 1576, in Cheshire, England.
Hace 1 día · John Egerton, fourth Earl of Bridgwater, Viscount Brackley, and Baron Ellesmere, had succeeded to his father's titles in 1686. He was descended from Thomas Egerton, the brilliant lawyer and statesman, who had held office under Elizabeth I and had been Lord Chancellor from 1603 to 1617.
Hace 3 días · In 1603 she conveyed to Ralph Crewe, Thomas Chamberlayn and Richard Cartwright, trustees for the Egertons and Sir Thomas Egerton, Lord Ellesmere, and Sir John Egerton, kt., his son and heir, received Ivinghoe from the trustees in 1604. Lord Ellesmere, who also bore the title of Viscount Brackley, died seised of the manor in 1617.
Hace 4 días · It continued in the crown till 1609, when it was granted to Thomas Marbury and Richard Cartwright, who immediately conveyed it to Thomas Egerton, Lord Ellesmere, the Lord Chancellor, who was created Viscount Brackley in 1616.
17 de jun. de 2024 · On 24 November 1593, Hesketh was tried for treason at St Albans, the trial being presided over by Sir Thomas Egerton, the Attorney General. Hesketh was found guilty, and executed on 29 November 1593, denying his Catholic faith.
24 de jun. de 2024 · This manor is first called Pitstone Morrants in the inquisition on Thomas Viscount Brackley taken in 1623 (Chan. Inq. p.m. [Ser. 2], cccxcvi, 151), though reference to a close called Morrant occurs in 1579 (Pat. 21 Eliz. pt. vii, m. 43).
