It’s an interesting premise that I’ve recently been exposed to. From King Charles I and King George III of England, to Charles II of Spain, to Tsar Nicholas II, many of history’s great turning points are defined by an establishment being run by not necessarily evil guys, but arguably incompetent ones who are simply unable to contain the ambitions of more capable people.
