At the meet, Weber almost broke Western Washington University’s men’s 800-meter record with a time of 1 minute, 49.88 seconds which, at the time, was the 14th best in the nation.

Alabama was then invited to play Stanford in the January 1, 1935, Rose Bowl. Coach Thomas' team defeated the Indians 29–13 to finish the season 10–0–0.

He would write of this experience in "The Great Army of the Sick", published in a New York newspaper in 1863 [81] and, 12 years later, in a book called Memoranda During the War . [82]
