  1. David Gardiner Tyler (July 12, 1846 – September 5, 1927) was an American politician and the ninth child and fourth son of John Tyler, the tenth president of the United States. Born in New York, Tyler went to school in Virginia and fought in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War.

  3. David was born in 1846. He is the son of John Tyler and Julia Gardiner. He passed away in 1927. Gardiner served in Confederate Army as a Private in the Rockbridge Artillery, which was part of the Army of Northern Virginia's First Virginia Battalion. He served from 1863 until the surrender at Appomattox in 1865.
