  1. Desmond FitzGerald (June 16, 1910 – July 23, 1967) was an American intelligence officer for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), where he rose to the position of Deputy Director of Plans. He served in the CIA from 1950 until his death. Posthumously he was awarded the National Security Medal.

  2. FitzGerald was stricken, apparently with a heart attack, while playing tennis at his country home near The Plains, Va. He also maintained a home at 1671 34th st. nw., in George town. Characterized by friends as a brilliant attorney, he joined the CIA in January, 1951.
