21 de may. de 2023 · Sir Robert de Burghersh was the son and heir of Reynold de Burghersh, and was Constable of Dover Castle, and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports from 1299 until his death. He was summoned to Parliament from November 12, 1303 until July 13, 1305, 'whereby he is held to have become Lord Burghersh'.
Biography. Lord Burghersh was to have been provided with a seat in Parliament by his uncle Lord Lonsdale, who as early as 1802 was contemplating his return for Cockermouth when he came of age. In the event he was returned for Lyme on the family interest.
Lord Burghersh served during the Crimean War and later succeeded his father to become the Earl of Westmorland. Fenton exhibition catalogue (1855) no. 228.
