Based on the novel Memory of Water by Emmi Itäranta, the film takes place in the dystopian future in the Scandinavian Union led by a military government, where there is a shortage of fresh water as a result of an environmental disaster.
Water memory is the purported ability of water to retain a memory of substances previously dissolved in it even after an arbitrary number of serial dilutions.
In this dystopian literary adaptation, a courageous young woman fights for fresh water in the Scandinavian Union, an area that has dried up due to environmental disaster and a repressive military government.
