In 1905, the Norwegian government discussed making them king and queen of Norway, but Carl declined the offer. Instead, her brother was elected monarch of Norway. Ingeborg's kinship to the Scandinavian dynasties helped bring the three royal houses together again after tension created due to Norway's 1905 secession.
Ingeborg Eriksdotter (c. 1244 – 24/26 March 1287) was Queen of Norway and the wife of King Magnus VI. She was born a Danish princess, daughter of Eric IV of Denmark. Princess Ingeborg was born in August 1878 in Copenhagen. She was the daughter of King Fredrik VIII of Denmark and Queen Louise (the daughter of King Karl XV of Sweden). Ingeborg married Prince Carl of Sweden in 1897. The couple had four children: Margaretha of Denmark, Märtha of Norway, Astrid of Belgium and Carl.
