Mark Charig (born 22 February 1944 in London) is a British trumpeter and cornetist. He was particularly active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when he played in settings as diverse as Long John Baldry's group, Bluesology, Soft Machine, and Keith Tippett's group and his Centipede big band.

Mark Charig, Cornet Earthbound vinyl Earthbound, originally released in 1972, was one of the earliest (if not the first) “official bootleg” released by a major rock band, consisting of a series of deliberately lo-fi live recordings of King Crimson’s Islands era line-up on tour in the USA.
Mark Charig has been one of the major exponents of the trumpet on the British and European jazz scene during the last three decades. Of course, his main claim to fame in strictly Canterbury terms is his short stint in the legendary augmented line-up of Soft Machine in late 1969, and subsequent appearances on the band's landmark album «Fourth».
