Dervorguilla of Galloway (c. 1210 – 28 January 1290) was a "lady of substance" in 13th century Scotland, the wife from 1223 of John de Balliol and mother of John I, a future king of Scotland. Family. Dervorguilla was one of the three daughters and heiresses of the Gaelic prince Alan, Lord of Galloway.

When Dervorguilla of Galloway was born about 1195, her father, Roland MacUchtred of Galloway, was 33 and her mother, Elena de Morville, was 31. She married Nicholas de Stuteville after 1209, in Cumberland, England. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. She died on 18 December 1241, in Whissendine, Rutland, England, at the age of 47.
She was the daughter of Alan, the Lord of Galloway. At the time she was born, Galloway was a part of Celtic Scotland and the people spoke Gaelic. The name Galloway derives from Gall-Gael meaning “foreigner Gaels” which the Gaels from the western seaboard and the isles of Scotland considered the people from Galloway.
