At the Bottom of the River is a collection of short stories by Caribbean novelist Jamaica Kincaid. Published in 1983, it was her first short story collection. The collection consists of ten inter-connected short stories, seven of which were previously published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review between 1978 and 1982.

The song paints a vivid picture of a town gripped by darkness and despair. The lyrics speak of a person drowning in their own sin and desperately seeking a way out.
At the Bottom of the River is a collection of semi-autobiographical prose poems written by Jamaica Kincaid. She grew up in Antigua, encountering some unique difficulties as a girl in the Afro-Caribbean. These poems, though disconnected, relate to one another because they form the narrative of one girl growing up into maturity in the Afro-Caribbean.
“Bottom of the River” became one of Delta Rae’s best-performing and most well-known songs. Its unique blend of bluegrass, folk, and rock elements, combined with its thought-provoking lyrics, resonated with audiences and showcased the band’s exceptional talent.
