James Michael Peterik ( / ˈpiːtərɪk / PEE-tə-rik; [1] born November 11, 1950) [2] is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the founder of the rock band Survivor, as vocalist and guitarist in The Ides of March, and as co-writer of the anthem "Eye of the Tiger", the theme from the 1982 film Rocky III .
