The 215th anniversary of the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy (now Military Medical) is a reason not only for celebration, but also is the moment of truth, connecting the great history of surgical development in Russian and its prospects in 21st century.
This book, by a collective of authors from Germany and Russia, is a bold and ambitious project to give an overview of medical geography in Imperial Russia (or, as the summary formulates it, to look “at the history of Russian medicine […] through the prism of the production of geographical knowledge”).
